It’s been a busy month at SuperTech, celebrating Birmingham Tech Week with a series of fringe events, including the annual ProfTech Dinner and exciting collaboration with BNP Paribas Personal Finance. Attendees had the opportunity to network with pioneering entrepreneurs and business leaders across the West Midlands to learn about the latest innovations in Fintech, AI, Real Estate and LawTech. Thank you to  all the partners and attendees that made everything possible, we trust that everyone enjoyed meeting friends, both old and new from across the  West Midlands ProfTech ecosystem. CFIT Coalition Insights

Day 1 of Birmingham Tech Week welcomed Ezechi Britton MBE, CEO of Centre of Finance Innovation & Technology to talk to the Birmingham fintech community.  As a fireside chat, attendees gained conversational insight into CFIT’s mission, alongside the experiences and motivations of West Midlands based coalition partners - CrediCar and HSBC - who are both pursuing open finance goals for the UK.

ProfTech Annual Dinner 

Back for its 3rd year, the annual dinner was once again a wonderful evening of networking and celebration for the proftech business community. It was a pleasure to welcome Madush Gupta, Policy Lead for Innovation and Technology at the City of London Corporation who spoke of SuperTech’s leadership and growth since launch, valuing both our strong ties to the City of London and our collaborative efforts to advance the UK proftech ecosystem.

The highest value networking opportunity of Birmingham Tech Week according to participants, where AI tech companies  were connected with C-suite and senior management teams from BNP Paribas Personal Finance to learn valuable insights to help drive the corporate innovation roadmap.

LawTech

A first for LawTechUK and delivery partner LegalGeek in coming to Birmingham to talk about all things legal services and tech. Co-hosted with our executive lead, Hilary Smyth-Allen, this event has kick-started the regional community in the typical high-energy LegalGeek way!

The City of London Corporation 

Our executive lead, Hilary-Smith-Allen had the pleasure to meet  with Alderman Nicholas Lyons, Lord Mayor of City of London Corporation, representing SuperTech WM alongside industry leadership group member Michael Bristow, CEO and founder of CrowdProperty - to hear first hand about the Lord Mayor’s leadership in the pensions industry to help unlock capital for scaling businesses and enhance the UK’s standing as a place to grow flagship businesses.

Calling all Insurtechs interested in forging US partnerships 

Organised by Innovate UK, the three-phase, competitive Global Business Innovation Programme consists of a five-day in-market visit to the USA and attendance at the InsurTech Hartford Symposium, intensive pre and post visit training and support from innovation and growth specialists. Focused on helping businesses to maximise the  partnership opportunities in the US to help develop innovation and bring ideas to commercialisation. Application process is now open with a deadline of 5pm on 9th November.

UK FinTech Census 

Co-chaired by the Department for Business and Trade and Innovate Finance, the UK Fintech Census is designed to support and maintain the UK's leading global FinTech reputation and to secure a ‘Global Britain’ with access to international markets. Feedback from the UK FinTech Census will assist in coordinating and tailoring support for UK FinTechs to continue to enter new markets and thrive overseas.
