SuperTech WM achieves Bronze Award status in European Cluster Management Excellence

We believe we are the first cluster organisation in England to achieve a current Bronze Award status within the European Cluster Management Excellence accreditation scheme from the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA) - fantastic recognition for how we have supported our ecosystem and our innovative ambitions for the future.

This award for SuperTech cements a major milestone in the 4-year journey to date, confirming that we are striving for cluster management excellence and have the foundations in place to continue on this path.

Background to the Accreditation Scheme

By being linked to and involved in the European Clusters Excellence Initiative (ECEI), ESCA experts have contributed to the development of various tools that support cluster managers on their way to excellence. Cluster benchmarking is acknowledged as key by both cluster managers and policy makers throughout Europe. Since 2008, more than 1,200 cluster management organisations have been benchmarked according to this methodology. The process covers all aspects of cluster management from industry engagement (committed vs. non-committed), resourcing (skill sets and structure), connectivity to economic growth regionally and nationally, reach and profile, financial sustainability and strategy among others.

This accreditation assures us and our ecosystem that we are working in the right way, and as we enter the next phase of growth, we look forward to strengthening and building on these strong foundations. We would like to thank our key partners for their support in our growth to date - we are particularly grateful to the West Midlands Combined Authority, Birmingham City Council Enterprise Zone, former Greater Birmingham & Solihull LEP and Birmingham City University for their encouragement to pursue this path since 2021.
