SUPERTECH'S LAWTECH ONBOARDING INNOVATION CHALLENGE - WITH FIELDFISHER

At a glance: A UK-first LawTech onboarding innovation challenge focused on client onboarding, KYC, risk and compliance - bringing together law firms and nine selected Legal tech companies.

Case study overview
SuperTech’s LawTech Onboarding Innovation Challenge is a UK-first open innovation programme designed to improve client outcomes and productivity in onboarding, KYC, risk and compliance for law firms. In the programme, SuperTech convened industry partners Shoosmiths, Mills & Reeve, Fieldfisher and Gateley with nine selected tech companies: DX Compliance, Emmi, Encompass Corporation, Legal AI, Legalian, Meo, REG-1, Trakti and Verify 365. This case study captures participant reflections on what worked and the value of sector-wide collaboration.

The challenge

Onboarding in legal environments can be time-consuming and inconsistent, with multiple systems, strict risk controls, and varied matter workflows. The challenge focused on identifying opportunities to streamline onboarding while maintaining quality, compliance and a strong user experience.

The approach

SuperTech curated an open innovation programme including industry workshops, facilitated working sessions and opportunities for direct feedback with the law firm partners. This case study reflects impact viewpoints from participants.

Outcomes and impact

  • Curated collaboration between law firms, legal tech SMEs and stakeholders.

  • Relevant vendor mix, with different perspectives and approaches to onboarding.

  • Practical learning through sessions, meetings and real-world feedback.

  • Sector-wide benefit from non-competitive knowledge exchange.
